All I wanna do
The evil spell of rain seems to be broken and the temperature hit +23 degrees today. I was finally doing something everyone thinks I am doing in Portugal every day. I have been to the beach! I have seen the ocean! I have been standing in the water! I have sunburned nose and shoulders!
First let me make it clear that Lisbon is mostly surrounded with the river Tagus and you cannot just grab your flip flops and go to a breathtaking beach by metro. Me and my beautiful friends (Asia, Kathi and Judith) spent about an hour going to a town called Sesimbra by bus. [For those who are interested in details we took the bus number 207 (or 260) from Praça de Espanha and payed 4.45 for a one-way trip pro person].
We crossed the 25 de Abril Bridge, which for some reason seems like a very cool thing to do. We took the jackets and sweaters off when passing Praia da California beach. We ate ice-cream passing Praia do Ouro beach. My adventurous restless polish friend Asia (you pronounce her name “AH-shah”) had a special beach in mind, it is called Praia da Ribeira do Cavalo. In the end we got lost going there, almost turned back and eventually hiked down the rocky path for about half an hour (that’s what they meant by “not easily reached”…) to see a bay with sand beach and surreal turquoise water.
Here I have to comment upon my hiking skills. I hiked around 10 times in my whole life, when I watch Austrians hiking they seem to me to be more related to mountain goats than to humans. Unplanned hiking for half an hour is a real achievement for me. I would not have done something like this if not for the company and adventurous-looking blog content. I guess it was one of the best days in Portugal I had so far.
