International dinner
My exam-free time in Lisbon is in truth very nice. Yesterday I was invited for a dinner at friend’s place. It all started with a smalltalk about how I never tried plantain last week, it ended with a massive 12-person dinner with people from 8 countries (3 continents!). We ate boiled plantains with a dish called “eforiro” (Nigeria), Jollof rice (Sudan), stir-fry noodles (Burkina Faso), lentils and rice (Pakistan), potato salad (Germany) and oladky (Ukraine). I think we spent half of the evening showing each other images of different plants saying “do you have this in your country?” apart from the discussions about languages, tribalism, racism and why you should never use the “n… word”, African hair, incest and who knows what. Don’t ask me about the details, I just remember laughing a lot.
