Completed, finished, done
All good things come to an end. Well, all bad things as well.
What I will miss | What I will not miss at all |
---|---|
My Erasmus friends. They are absolutely great. Having a group of girlfriends was also a totally new and very pleasant experience. | Weather. Honestly, the weather was horrible for 95% of the time I stayed in Portugal. I am happy to stop carrying a leather jacket and thighs with me everywhere I go just in case. |
Dancing. Of course I will have dancing classes back in Austria, but Jazzy dance studios are hard to top. | Being far away from my boyfriend, no matter how cheesy this sounds. |
Having free time. Coming back to juggling a part-time job and studies doesn’t exactly make me happy. | The absence of chairs. Portuguese people have this astonishing ability to stand for hours no matter whether it is a line for a bus or a party night out. If there is something you can sit on it would most probably be a stool without a back. |
Cheap fruits | Prices for everything except for the fruits, especially accommodation and cosmetic products. |
Being in a vibrant city. In Lisbon there is always something interesting you can do except if it is raining or it is a high touristic season. | Sleeping with earplugs. I generally miss the ability of waking up at time chosen by me and feel rested. |
Azulejo (I still think they are beautiful) and street art hunting. | Trash on the streets and the absence of proper recycling system. |
African people. I don’t really meet black people in Graz on a daily basis. [Me from the future says this is actually not true at all and I see black people every day, but the occasions on which we actually speak to each other are almost nonexistent]. | Cobblestone pavements. They may look unusual and are part of the heritage, however they are hard to walk on and tend to get awfully slippery. |
Shops that are still open after 7 p.m. during the weekdays. Other than that having an opportunity to buy groceries on Sunday at the shop around the corner is an underestimated luxury. | Being sick. I don’t think I have ever had a runny nose and sore throat that frequent at any point in my life. |
Lisbon, it was a pleasure! Kisses and hugs to all people who were nice to me for their participation in this experience 🙂
